Congress has introduced a proposal to reform the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula, which does not include repealing the Medicare therapy cap. If Congress passes legislation addressing the SGR formula, but does not include a repeal of the Medicare therapy cap, it is likely that patients will face a hard cap on outpatient therapy services in 2014. Everyone needs to get involved and contact Congress to prevent the therapy cap from going into effect!
You can find action alerts from AOTA, APTA and ASHA below. You can also call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to speak to the offices of your members of Congress and request that they repeal the Medicare therapy cap before December 31, 2013. Don’t let Congress deny beneficiaries vital coverage for much needed therapy services!
